There is nobody in the so-called collective West that Russia could negotiate with to defuse the dangerously escalating conflagration in Ukraine, as Washington and its NATO allies don't want peace, they don't want cooperation, they want confrontation, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev told RT.

NATO still stubbornly refuses to accept the fact that the current scenario, where it is fueling a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, is teeming with the risk of a nuclear apocalypse, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev told RT in an interview.

"Otherwise, Washington and its NATO allies would not funnel such dangerous weapons to the Ukrainian regime. So, apparently, they believe that a nuclear conflict, or a nuclear apocalypse, is impossible, because it is never possible. They are wrong. And at some point, events can follow a completely unpredictable scenario. And the responsibility will lie entirely with the North Atlantic Alliance."

'Point of No Return'

Weighing in on the amount of arms shipments already sent to prop up the regime in Kiev, including the latest decision by London to transfer its long-range Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, Medvedev noted that it was hard to determine if the point of no return had already been passed.

"Nobody knows… And therein lies the main danger. Because, as soon as something is delivered, the response is, we need more… long-range missiles, or now – fighter jets… Then all will be good… Only it won’t… Nothing good will happen... We'll deal with that too. But more and more lethal weapons will be used."

West Wants to Destroy Russia

There is no one in the West that Russia could talk to, seek common ground with, at least "not yet," Medvedev stated. Those waging a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine with such zeal "don't want peace, they don't want cooperation, they want confrontation. They are trying in every possible way to infringe on our country," he stressed.

As it fans the flames of the Ukraine conflict, Washington seeks its ultimate goal of destroying the Russian Federation, the country's former president and prime minister emphasized.

"At minimum, restriction, containment of the Russian Federation. They are doing the same in relation to China. But the ultimate goal is the destruction of Russia as a country. But it won’t work… We will not let them," he said.

Looking back on the sabotage and terrorism that NATO’s proxy war in Ukraine has been replete with, Medvedev noted that the US should compensate Russia for all the damage and destruction it sowed, like the bombing of Nord Stream.

Last September, three of the four lines of the Nord Stream pipeline network running from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea were damaged in a large-scale sabotage attack, with the long-term economic impact on Europe estimated to be in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Veteran US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh later revealed direct US culpability in this act of sabotage and terrorism. But it went far beyond the Nord Stream attack, of course, added Medvedev.

"Let them return the funds, or at least allocate funds, for the restoration of Artemovsk, Mariupol, and a host of other places that were destroyed with their help and support. With their money," he said, in a reference to the Donbass cities pummeled with billions of dollars-worth of NATO-supplied weaponry.

Medvedev: Kata-kata Kiev Tentang Non-Keterlibatan dalam Serangan Sabotase di Rusia Kebohongan Mutlak

Dmitry Medvedev, has called the Ukrainian government's claims that it was not involved in sabotage attacks on Russian territory 'an absolute lie'. "No matter how much chatter there is in Kiev that they have nothing to do with this - with this kind of sabotage, it is all a lie, of course, an absolute lie," Medvedev said when asked by journalists about the situation in the Belgorod region.

"The Kiev regime, and ultimately its sponsors across the ocean, are responsible for this. That is, Washington and the EU countries, together with countries like Britain and others who have joined them. This is their direct and immediate responsibility," he added.

Speaking about Kiev's subversive groups, Dmitriy Medvedev said:

"As for these scumbags - I can't call them anything else - there are different ways of characterizing them. The only question is what to do with them. They should be destroyed like rats, not even captured," Medvedev said in response to journalists' questions.

The more destructive weapons supplied to Kiev, the more likely the scenario of a nuclear apocalypse, Medvedev said.

"The more weapons are supplied, the more dangerous the world becomes, and the more destructive these weapons are, the more likely the scenario of what is commonly called a nuclear apocalypse becomes," he stressed.

Some of the alliances in the Asia-Pacific region are neutral in nature, while others are almost unfriendly: NATO is involved in global projects, Medvedev said.

Medvedev noted that some of the alliances and partnerships in the Pacific are neutral in relation to Russia and that Russia participates in some of them as an invited participant, such as ASEAN or ASEAN Plus. He stressed that military-technical cooperation with friendly countries did not stop amid a special military operation.

As part of a counterterror operation, the Russian military wiped out the Ukrainian nationalist formations that infiltrated the Grayvoronsky District in the Belgorod Region on Monday, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said on Tuesday.

Some 70 Ukrainian terrorists have been eliminated. According to the latest data, no civilians have been killed as a result of the sabotage group’s actions and 12 people were injured. An elderly woman died during evacuation.

TASS has put together the latest information about the situation in the Belgorod Region.

Elimination of Ukrainian saboteurs

  • The Russian military blocked and wiped out Ukrainian nationalist formations in the Belgorod Region during a counterterror operation. The terrorists infiltrated Russian territory on May 22 after shelling the Kozinka border checkpoint and a number of other civilian facilities, the Russian Defense Ministry specified.

  • The nationalist formations were blocked and eliminated by air strikes, artillery fire and active actions from the state border security units of the Western Military District. Over 70 Ukrainian terrorists have been wiped out. The Russian military pushed the remnants of the sabotage group back to Ukraine where they continued to fire on them until they were completely eliminated.

  • Russian troops also destroyed four armored combat vehicles and five pickup trucks.

Situation in region

  • Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops shelled about 20 communities in the Belgorod Region, regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said. They used a multiple-launch rocket system and dropped explosive devices on residential buildings and people using drones.

  • Some 29 residential buildings and three vehicles have been damaged. Power outages have been registered in 14 populated localities. It will be possible to begin restoring service as soon as the situation allows, the governor clarified.

  • Ukraine has launched an unprecedented information attack on the region’s inhabitants, spreading rumors that tanks are entering the region and that a nuclear catastrophe looms. Ukraine’s goal is to intimidate people and spread panic in the region, the governor said, urging that only official information be trusted.

Evacuation of residents

  • The inhabitants of nine communities have been evacuated due to the infiltration by Ukrainian saboteurs. They are Grayvoron, Novostroyevka, Gorkovsky, Bezymeno, Mokraya Orlovka, Glotovo, Gora Podol, Zamostye and Spodaryusheno.

  • The regional governor does not recommend the residents of the Grayvoronsky District return home. According to him, the authorities will let people know when it is safe to do so.

  • Residents who were evacuated earlier are staying at temporary accommodation centers in Stary Oskol and the Yakovlevsky and Ivnyansky districts.

Number of casualties

  • According to Gladkov, 12 people have been wounded in bombardments by Ukrainian troops. On Monday, he reported that eight people had been injured as a result of Ukrainian saboteurs infiltrating the Grayvoronsky District.

  • No civilians have been killed as a result of the actions of the Ukrainian saboteurs.

  • Two wounded civilians who had been in the populated localities infiltrated by the enemy where Russian forces had been unable to reach them immediately, were hospitalized.

  • A woman born in 1941 died while being evacuated. She was on a bus with her son and daughter-in-law. The cause of her death is being established.

Reaction by authorities

  • Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on charges of terrorism, attempts on the lives of members of law enforcement, attempted murder, premeditated property damage and illegal arms and explosives trafficking.

  • Investigators are establishing the attackers’ identities.

  • The incursion by Ukrainian saboteurs caused deep concern in the Kremlin, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said. There are no plans to hold a special session of the Russian Security Council over these events. A regular meeting will be held later this week.

Ukraine’s actions

  • The authorities of the Sumy Region in Ukraine announced the evacuation of residents from a number of localities in the Akhtyrsky District close to the Belgorod Region’s border.

A suspect has been detained by the US Secret Service after crashing a U-Haul truck into a security gate not far from the White House in Washington, DC. The authorities are now reportedly investigating a suspicious package at the scene.

The crash took place at the north side of Lafayette Square, which is directly adjacent to the White House, at around 10pm local time on Monday night, according to the Secret Service, which confirmed that it had made one arrest.

“There were no injuries to any Secret Service or White House personnel and the cause and manner of the crash remain under investigation,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.

An eyewitness later took to Twitter to share footage captured as authorities arrested the driver of the U-Haul truck. They said they initially assumed the crash was an accident, “until the U-Haul backed up and once again tried to break through the barriers.”

Police were seen inspecting the truck later on Monday night, at one point deploying robots to determine whether it contained anything dangerous. A local NBC affiliate reported that a “suspicious package” had been found in or near the U-Haul, but offered no further details.

Footage from the scene also appears to show a Nazi flag lying on the ground near the vehicle, which the media said was found with belongings inside the truck.

Several blocks were closed down in the area as authorities investigate, with multiple hotels also evacuated as a precaution, according to local Fox reporter Marina Marraco. No details about the suspect have yet been released and the reason for the crash remains unclear. The DC Metropolitan Police Department is assisting the Secret Service in the probe.

Russia to continue building up ties with friendly countries, says PM

In the current situation, Russia will continue fostering relations with China and other countries who are ready for cooperation, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the Russia-China Business Forum in Shanghai on Tuesday.

"Our country is looking at dynamically developing markets. We have expanded trade with the world’s rapidly developing economies. These words fully apply to our big friend, China," the Russian head of government emphasized.

According to him, Russia’s foreign trade grew by more than 8% to $850 billion last year, with exports rising by about 20%.

"We will keep building up ties with friendly countries. This is one of the six key tasks outlined by Russian President Vladimir Putin for this year," Mishustin concluded.

The West has rolled out a massive sanctions campaign against Russia after it started its special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.

Russia's detractors have failed to destroy its economy, collapse the national currency and unleash devastating inflation, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during the Russia-China forum in Shanghai on Tuesday.

"Last year, Russia was subjected to sanctions pressure on an unprecedented scale. Their aim was to destroy our economy, collapse the national currency, provoke devastating inflation. To hit the living standards of ordinary citizens. None of the things our critics dreamed of happened," Mishustin said.

He added that Russia had not only outlived, but was continuing its progressive development.

Against the backdrop of Western economic pressure, Russia has continued to boost its cooperation with China, and this will strengthen the economies of both countries, the Prime Minister said.

"I am convinced that the deepening of Russian-Chinese interaction and the boosting of cooperation will also have a positive impact on strengthening the economies of both our countries," Mishustin said.

He stressed that Russia and China may bring their trade in 2023 to $200 billion. "I am convinced that this year we will fulfill the task set by the heads of our states, to bring mutual trade to $200 billion," Mishustin said.

He said Russia is ready for new projects with China in the sphere of renewable energy sources and will continue to supply hydrocarbons.

Mishuting named the promising areas of cooperation the two countries. "Promising areas of cooperation are shipbuilding and the machine tool industry, the production of civilian unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as timber industry," Mishustin said.

Russia and China need to work more actively to facilitate mutual access to agricultural markets and strengthen food security together, the Prime Minister added.

Mishustin said that the expansion of air traffic and active use of the potential of the Northern Sea Route are a priority area of Russia-China cooperation.

“Air traffic expansion is among other priorities. And, of course, more active use of the Northern Sea Route's potential - as the shortest route from Asia to Europe," he said as he spoke at the Russian-Chinese forum in Shanghai.
