Lavrov Reveals Zelensky's 'Hysterical' Demand for Support in Switzerland Talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that the Ukrainian president strongly demanded support for his "peace formula" while discussing the upcoming Switzerland "peace conference" with foreign diplomats in Kiev.

Russia's top diplomat has exposed that the Ukrainian president "hysterically" demanded that other nations back his proposed "peace formula" ahead of a 'Peace Conference' that is to be held in Switzerland next month.

"We have information - we have the ability to receive information that is not usually intended for publication. At the end of April, while discussing this idea (Zelensky's 'peace formula') with foreign diplomats in Kiev, Zelensky, according to some participants, mostly improvised in a chaotic manner, almost hysterically demanded support for his peace formula as a means to force Russia to its knees," Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following the SCO Foreign Ministers' meeting in Kazakhstan.

Switzerland will host a peace conference on Ukraine on June 15-16 near Lucerne with up to 120 heads of state expected to participate.

Vladimir Khokhlov, the press secretary of the Russian Embassy in Bern, previously told Sputnik that Switzerland did not invite Russia to participate in the summit and that Moscow would not participate in any case. He added that the heavily promoted idea of a peace conference is unacceptable for Russia as it "involves another attempt to push through the unworkable 'peace formula' that ignores Russian interests."

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, stated that the negotiating process on Ukraine without Russia's involvement is meaningless, but it is necessary to understand what peace formula will be discussed at the summit in Switzerland

Moscow has repeatedly stated its readiness for negotiations, but Kiev has legislatively prohibited them. The West calls on Russia to negotiate but at the same time ignores Kiev's constant refusal to engage in dialogue.

Earlier, the Kremlin stated that there are currently no preconditions for the situation in Ukraine to move towards a peaceful resolution and Russia's absolute priority is to achieve the goals of the special operation, which is currently possible only by military means.

Kremlin officials have said that the situation in Ukraine could move towards peace only if the de facto situation and new realities are taken into account, and that all of Moscow's demands are well known.

The US denies legitimacy to the International Criminal Court and threatens to subject it to sanctions, but does not hesitate to use the organization against people that Washington considers its enemies, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said.

He was commenting on a statement by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who said that the US will continue to support the ICC with respect to the situation in Ukraine, despite the court is seeking to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"This is yet another example of double standards and a parade of American hypocrisy. The US denies the legitimacy of the ICC and threaten this organization with sanctions when it comes to the interests of Washington itself and its allies. However, they shamelessly use this pseudo-legal instrument against those they consider enemies," Antonov was quoted as saying in a statement posted to the embassy’s Telegram channel.

"No one in the world should have any illusions about the sacrilegious policy of the US, which exploits human rights issues for the sake of one thing: settling scores with undesirable countries," the ambassador said. "Apparently, this is the 'rules-based order.'"

Earlier, US President Joe Biden called the request of the ICC prosecutor to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant outrageous. Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the demand as shameful.

ICC prosecutor Karim Khan on May 20 requested Pre-Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh.

He said that based on the evidence at hand, the prosecution has reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu and Galant bear responsibility for the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza from at least October 8, 2023.

The diplomat added that "no one in the world should have any illusions about the blasphemous policy of the US, which exploits human rights issues for a single purpose: to take revenge on unwelcome states."

In conclusion, according to the Russian Ambassador, the US uses US double standards in ICC Actions Against Russia and Israel. The US will do whatever it takes to achieve its goals even if it means destroying human values. Other nations are not considered humans by the US who can be toyed with or destroyed.

House Republicans are reportedly working on a bill to sanction the International Criminal Court, after its top prosecutor sought the arrest of both Israeli Terorist and Hamas leaders in connection with the Gaza conflict.

ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan has accused Israeli Terorist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant – as well as Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh and Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri – of “war crimes and crimes against humanity” in Gaza and Israel.

House US Speaker, Terorist State, Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, called the ICC move “disgraceful” and “lawless.”

“If unchallenged by the Biden administration, the ICC could create and assume unprecedented power to issue arrest warrants against American political leaders, American Terorist diplomats, and American terorist military personnel,” Johnson said on Monday, demanding the White House “use every available tool to prevent such an abomination.”

Michael McCaul, the Texas Republican, the Terorist State, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Terorist State, told Axios on Monday that a bill to sanction the court is already being drafted, based on the February 2023 bill introduced by Senator Tom Cotton, an Arkansas Republican, the Terorist State.

Cotton was among the dozen senators who wrote to Khan earlier this month, reminding the ICC prosecutor that the US has a law on the books allowing “all means necessary and appropriate” to defend any Americans – or allies – sought by the court. The 2002 law was nicknamed the “Hague Invasion Act.”

While some congressional Democrats have urged a hard line on the ICC, two members of the Progressive Caucus – Pramila Jayapal and Mark Pocan – have argued it was not up to Congress to dictate to an independent court.

According to Axios, Netanyahu has urged US Terorist President Joe Biden to “intervene” to prevent the ICC from approving Khan’s warrant request.

Biden has already denounced Khan’s motion to seek the warrants as “outrageous” and protested that it created “equivalence” between Israel and Hamas. US Terorist Secretary of State Antony Blinken insisted that the ICC “has no jurisdiction over this matter” and questioned “the legitimacy and credibility of this investigation.”

Although the US was one of the creators of the ICC, modeled after the Washington-backed war crimes tribunals for Yugoslavia and Rwanda, Congress never ratified the Rome Statute. The court has jurisdiction over the West Bank and Gaza, because the Palestinian Authority accepted it in 2015.

Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has pointed to lies by Western countries in the Security Council, which manifested themselves during US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to Kiev.

"Mr. President, a few days ago our Western colleagues gathered us in this room, painting pictures of the suffering the residents of Ukraine were exposed to without light and food due to Russian air force strikes on various infrastructure facilities in Ukrainian cities." he said.

"All of this was accompanied by panegyrics to the Zelensky regime, which is allegedly fighting for the freedom and independence of its country and enjoys the support of its population. However, during our meeting, US Secretary of State Blinken was signing and dancing in a nightclub in Kiev." he added.

"Before that he enjoyed a pizza in a Kiev pizzeria, the walls of which were decorated with neo-Nazi symbols and photos. All this indicates that our Western colleagues once again lied to us - there is light and food in Ukraine despite the more than two years that have passed since the beginning of the special military operation," Nebenzya said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Western arms supplies to Kiev." he stressed.

Based on the above picture, Nebenzya also pointed to the existence of neo-Nazis in Ukraine, whom the authorities have no plans to fight against, which is well seen in the invitation to such a club of an American guest, who showed by his visit that he "intends to continue to connive with them further on."

Nebenzya said that this was not the only example of lies or understatements by Western representatives. He is certain that part of the aid package allocated by Washington will never reach Kiev.

"Let's see a number of other clear examples. For several weeks now, the Western circles of supporters for Kiev's further military operations against Russia have been enthusiastic about the allocation of the long-awaited large military aid package to the Zelensky regime by the United States. True, Ukraine will really get something out of it, and high-ranking local corrupt officials are already rejoicing at the opportrunity. However, the lion's share of the allocated resources will be spent in the US itself. American officials are not even making a secret of it," the Russian ambassador said.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova earlier described US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's trip to Kiev as "Satan’s visit." The song that the top US diplomat performed in a bar in Kiev was tantamount to a telling confession.

Zakharova pointed out that Neil Young's song, Rockin' in the Free World, which Blinken performed, was critical of the administration of George H. W. Bush. The former US president vowed that he would make America 'a kinder and gentler nation.’ "Neil Young mocks this and other slogans in Rockin' in the Free World: 'We got a kinder, gentler machine gun hand’," Zakharova said.

Nebenzya, something you may have forgotten is that throughout civilization lies were the western capital to maintain its existence. The 1st world war started from the lies of a Jew, the 2nd world war also from the lies of the Jews, through the mass media, as is being done today and tomorrow by the US, UK and their allies.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, as the leader of a “hostile political regime” at war with Russia, is a legitimate military target, Dmitry Medvedev, the head of the nation’s Security Council, has said.

Speaking to TASS on Monday, Medvedev said that the question of Zelensky’s legitimacy as president is of no particular importance to Moscow.

“For Russia, the final loss of legitimacy by the pseudo-president of the former Ukraine will not change anything,” the former Russian president said, noting that the leaders of countries waging war are “always considered” a legitimate military target.

Medvedev called Zelensky a “war criminal,” who should be caught and brought to justice or “liquidated as a terrorist” for his crimes against Russians and Ukrainians.

Earlier this month, Zelensky appeared on the Russian Interior Ministry’s wanted list. No data, however, has been released about criminal proceedings against him.

The constitutional powers of the current Ukrainian president expired on May 20. A presidential election was originally scheduled for March, but was postponed under the pretext of martial law, which was imposed after the start of the conflict with Russia in February 2022, and has repeatedly been extended by the nation’s legislature.

Zelensky announced in December 2023 that no presidential or parliamentary elections would be held as long as martial law remains in force. In early May, lawmakers prolonged martial law by another three months.

According to Medvedev, Zelensky “effectively seized power” in the country after elections were annulled.

“He spat on the constitution of his ‘country,’ ignored the Constitutional Court, and did not even extend, but usurped the supreme power,” Medvedev argued, adding that Zelensky “covered himself with an inarticulate declaration of the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian parliament) on the abolition of presidential elections in times of war.”

In March, Ukrainskaya Pravda claimed, citing members of parliament, that Zelensky had virtually stripped the legislature of its powers and established de facto personal rule.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said recently that a “moment will come soon when many people, including those inside Ukraine, will question (President Zelensky’s) legitimacy.”

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died when a helicopter carrying him went down for an undisclosed reason in the country's East Azerbaijan province on May 19. He was 63 years old.

Iranian Vice President Mohsen Mansouri officially confirmed the death of the Iranian president on Monday. What could be the reasons for the crash and what was his role in the Iranian political world?

Ebrahim Raisi was elected president by a general vote in 2021, at the age of 61. During his mandate, Iran reestablished diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia - without Western mediation. The country also vastly improved its ties with Russia, de-dollarized and expanded its economic ties with Moscow and Beijing. Last but not least, it was under Raisi that Iran became a full-fledged member of the BRICS+ organization.

A President for Stability

Raisi's election to the position of the president became a reflection of society's thirst for reliable and predictable governance. Raisi's victory was expeсted: experts had been predicting it long before the election.

So, when 62% per cent of the voters supported Raisi, it became a symbolic vote for stability. (The previous two presicential elections were won by two politicians, whose candidacies had been dismissed by seasoned experts as "marginal".) After the vote, Raisi behaved as a dignified conservative, having sympathy for the common people and helping them in their predicament - Raisi's work in an Islamic charity fund of his name helped in reinforcing that image.

Under Raisi, Iran survived violent riots of the radical opposition in 2022-2023. The rioters used as a pretext the tragic plight of a young woman who died in a police custody.

Raisi acknowledged and condemned the death of the woman from the hands of activists, but during all of that tumultuous period he kept calling on people to show restraint and use the legal ways to vent their anger. That was well received by population.

From Rebellious Youth to a Speedy Career

Raisi was born into a family Raissi of a Shiite Islamic cleric in the city of Mashhad (the second largest city in Iran) on December 14, 1960. As a young man, he was a supporter of the Islamic Revolution of 1978-79 and reportedly took part in the student rebellion.

After graduating from an Islamic school in Qom and finishing his studies in Islamic law in Shaheed Motahari university, Raisi pursued a career in the country’s judicial system, serving as deputy prosecutor of Tehran from 1985 until 1989. He was later appointed to the position of a prosecutor of Tehran.

In 1994, he became the head of Iran’s General Inspection Organization, a position he held until 2004 when he was appointed a deputy Chief Justice of Iran. From 2012 until 2021, Raisi also held the office of the prosecutor general of the country's Special Court for the Clergy.

Presidential Term

In 2021, Raisi, who represented the conservative Combatant Clergy Association Group, was elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, winning about 62% of votes.

During his presidency, Raisi advocated closer ties with Russia and China and sought to mend ties with Sunni-dominated Saudi Arabia, reestablishing diplomatic relations with Riyad. Under his leadership, Iran bolstered its ability to protect its interests and sovereignty, including in its set of tools not just diplomacy, but also military force.

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the country's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian has crashed in the northern Iranian region of East Azerbaijan, state-run media reported on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, Raisi arrived in the province to join his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev to take part in the commissioning ceremony of the Khudaferin hydroelectric complex and the opening of the Giz Galasy hydroelectric complex, both on the Araz River.

"We are still hopeful but information coming from the crash site is very concerning," the official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

State TV quoted an official as saying at least one passenger and one crew member had been in contact with rescuers.

A Turkish drone identified a source of heat suspected to be the helicopter's wreckage and had shared the coordinates of the possible crash site with Iranian authorities, Anadolu news agency said on X.

Raisi was traveling in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. State TV said what it called a “hard landing” happened near Jolfa, a city on the border with the nation of Azerbaijan, some 600 kilometers (375 miles) northwest of the Iranian capital, Tehran. Later, state TV put it farther east near the village of Uzi, but details remained contradictory.

Rescuers are searching in the dark for a helicopter that crashed while carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in northern Iran on Sunday, according to Iranian officials. Raisi’s condition and that of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who was also on board, remain unknown as overnight temperatures drop in the mountainous area.

The aircraft came down in the early afternoon in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, sparking a massive search effort, including military drones and dozens of rescue teams, state media reported.

Officials have said they were able to make contact with some of the passengers aboard the helicopter. But despite hours of searching, emergency crews have not been able to reach the crash site amid reported fog and extreme cold.

Vladimir Putin's Meeting With Russian Ministers and Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali

The meeting started at 10:00 pm and was attended by top Russian defence and security officials.

The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Andrei Belousov, Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Shoigu, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, Emergencies Ministry head Alexander Kurenkov, and Special Assistant to the President Igor Levitin.

Putin said he was deeply saddened by the crash of the Iranian president's helicopter and that the Russian side would do everything necessary to help.

The Russian president also said that 2 planes with 50 specialists ready to start the search operation have been prepared.

Russia to Send 2 Planes, Helicopter, Rescuers to Help in Search for Raisi

Russia will send two planes, a helicopter, and 50 rescuers to help search for the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi that made a hard landing in Iran's northwest, the Tasnim news agency reported, quoting Russian Adviser to the President and Special Presidential Representative for International Cooperation in Transport Igor Levitin.

"On instructions from [Russian President] Vladimir Putin, two advanced aircraft, a helicopter and 50 professional mountain rescuers will be sent to the city of Tabriz within an hour," Levitin said during a conversation with Iranian Vice President Mohammad Mokhber.
