A report claiming two Royal Artillery regiments were left completely disarmed due to Downing Street’s decision to send the guns to Ukraine comes as British hawks step up their public relations campaign to convince taxpayers to submit to a surge in military spending.

The British Army has no more heavy guns left after having given them all to Ukraine, according to a recent report.

All of the UK’s 30 serviceable AS-90 self-propelled artillery guns have been sent to the Zelensky regime, The Sun is reporting.

“The decision to give them away has stripped two Royal Artillery regiments, based on Salisbury Plain, Wilts, of all their working weapons,” wrote the outlet, which added that an artillery source told them: “If gunners don’t have guns we can’t fight, we can’t train.”

The news comes amid a high-profile push by British war hawks to convince the public to cough up for newer and fancier toys for the military.

Claiming that British fighting capabilities have been “hollowed out by spending cuts,” the former head of the UK’s Joint Forces Command, retired General Richard Barrons, wrote in a recent op-ed that “years of cuts to ammunition production mean that, for some types of key weapons, the army would run out in a busy afternoon.”

Opining that the UK’s military is now “barely tier two” – a designation which would place it among the ranks of Germany and Italy, rather than “tier one” militaries like those of the US, China, Russia, or France – Barrons insisted the Brits will have to fork over an additional £3 billion to return to the upper echelon.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace also recently echoed the view the British military has been left “hollowed out and underfunded” in light of his government’s continuing campaign to pump Ukraine full of deadly weapons. “As the world gets more dangerous, defense should get a growing proportion of spend,” he reportedly urged.

The possibility that the UK would likely be left flat-footed in a military engagement has been greeted with increasing concern among British military members, but across the Atlantic, news that UK military supplies have been gutted has provoked a decidedly different response.

“The UK Is Giving Ukraine Lots of Artillery — Now The British Army Can Get Newer And Better Guns,” cheered Forbes in one particularly shameless headline.

By “donating to Ukraine more and more of its artillery,” the British Army is “effectively forcing the government in London finally to spend real money on new guns and launchers,” the author crowed.

But there’s little indication that view aligns with those of working-class Britons, who have endured one of the toughest years in recent memory. With half a million Brits on strike Wednesday amid the worst cost-of-living crisis in generations, issues like better pay and an end to draconian public spending cuts tended to be at the top of the list of demands – but ‘new heavy weapons’ was nowhere to be found.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson told MailOnline: 'The granting in kind of AS90 will provide an important increase in Ukraine's capabilities and will help to accelerate Ukrainian success on the battlefield.

'Concurrently, the Army is continuing to meet its operational AS90 commitment in Estonia.'

The spokesperson said the Army is now focused on accelerating the 'Mobile Fires Platform project which is designed to deliver an enduring replacement this decade'.

There are concerns the decision could leave Britain in a vulnerable position, particularly given the guns linked to the Mobile Fires Platform aren't due to arrive until 2029.

In a letter obtained by the Daily Mail last week, General Sir Patrick Sanders spelled out the realities for Britain of donating so much of its military equipment.

The UK is sending 14 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tanks, along with recovery vehicles, vast quantities of spare parts, hundreds of armoured vehicles, the AS90 artillery heavy guns, high-velocity rockets and drones.

Musk Says He's ‘Deeply Appreciative’ of Jury Verdict Finding Him Innocent in Investor Lawsuit

The jury in Elon Musk's case came back with a verdict after two hours of deliberations

Billionaire entrepreneur and Tesla chief Elon Musk said late Friday he is deeply appreciative of a US jury that found him not liable for losses experienced by investors following a 2018 "funding secured" tweet.

“Thank goodness, the wisdom of the people has prevailed! I am deeply appreciative of the jury’s unanimous finding of innocence in the Tesla 420 take-private case,” Musk, 51, said via Twitter on Friday.

Musk spent about eight hours on the witness stand during the trial as he was both vilified as a rich narcissist, and then defended as a visionary trying to protect "the little guy," reported AP.

Earlier in the day, a nine-person jury found that investors failed to prove Musk’s tweet about taking Tesla private at $420 hurt them financially after the proposal never came to fruition. Jurors reached their decision after deliberating for about an hour following a three-week trial.

The federal judge overseeing the case had previously ruled that Musk's 2018 tweet on secured funding had been untrue, and that Musk had acted reckless when he opted to post on the social media platform.

In September 2018, Musk settled a fraud charge brought against him by the US Securities and Exchange Commission over the same tweet, agreeing to pay $20 million in penalties to investors, while his company Tesla also paid an additional $20 million.

Had Musk been found liable for the August 2018 tweets he would have had to pay a fine worth billions of dollars in damages, which could have knocked him from his current status as the second-richest person in the world. Musk is currently worth $185.3 billion after luxury conglomerate-owner Bernard Arnault.

After less than 90 minutes of deliberation, a jury announced the verdict in the trial that kicked off three weeks ago in San Francisco. The outcome of the trial sent Tesla shares up about 1.5% in after-hours trading to $189.98.

Musk tweeted Friday following the jury’s verdict: “Thank goodness, the wisdom of the people has prevailed! I am deeply appreciative of the jury’s unanimous finding of innocence in the Tesla 420 take-private case.”

The central question in the lawsuit was whether Musk was liable for losses suffered by shareholders after he posted in August 2018 several messages on Twitter that he had secured funding to take Tesla private. Musk initially tweeted “Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.” Another pair of tweets soon followed: “Investor support is confirmed. Only reason why this is not certain is that it’s contingent on a shareholder vote” and then another stating that he doesn’t have a controlling vote now and “wouldn’t expect any shareholder to have one if we go private.”

Plaintiffs’ attorneys representing investors argued that these shareholders suffered financially as a result. Musk, Tesla and its board, faced billions of dollars in damages.

The trial was not to determine whether those tweets were true. That question had already been answered. Edward M. Chen, the federal judge overseeing the case, ruled that the tweets were untrue and Musk was reckless for posting them.

The three-week trial was largely a tug-of-war over language and intent.

Attorney Nicholas Porritt, who made closing arguments for the plaintiffs, argued that when Musk posted the tweets the company was nowhere near reaching a deal to go private, citing emails and texts to prove there was not an agreement or even a framework to reach one.

“To Elon Musk, if he believes it even just thinks about it, then it’s true no matter how objectively false or exaggerated it may be,” Porritt said. “That may work in his businesses. That’s not an issue for this trial. But it does not work in securities markets or public companies. Securities markets have rules governing what you can and cannot say. And one of those basic rules is that what you say must be true and accurate.”

Alex Spiro, who represented Musk, countered, stating throughout his closing arguments that funding was not the issue at all and Musk knew he could attain it if needed. Instead, Spiro pointed to a blog post several weeks after Musk’s tweets explaining that Musk would not take Tesla private because existing shareholders believed it was better off as a publicly traded company.

While Musk avoided a hefty bill in damages, the funding secured tweet has cost him.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed a complaint in September 2018 alleging Musk lied when he tweeted that he had “funding secured” for a private takeover of the company at $420 per share. The complaint was filed after Musk and Tesla’s board abruptly walked away from an agreement with the SEC. The board not only pulled out of the agreement, it issued a bold statement of support for Musk after the charges were filed.

A settlement was eventually reached anyway, albeit with stiffer penalties than the original agreement. Musk agreed, in the settlement reached on September 29, to step down as chairman of Tesla and pay a $20 million fine. Tesla agreed to pay a separate $20 million penalty.

Pentagon decision on whether to use US-Supplied Ground Launched Small Diameter Bombs against crimea is up to Ukraine

The United States will provide Ukraine with Ground Launched Small Diameter Bombs (GLSDB) in the newly announced military aid package but Kiev will decide whether it will use the weapons to target Crimea, Defense Department spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said on Friday. "I'm not going to talk about or speculate about potential future operations," Ryder added.

The vast majority in Crimea don't want to be part of Ukraine, PressTV correspondent Johnny Miller, who has been working in Donetsk for a while, says.

"Being in Crimea, if I was to walk around Sevastopol and say ‘this is Ukraine’, you would feel ridiculous because everyone's telling you ‘we're Russian’ and it feels like a Russian place. So when Ukraine and NATO say, we are going to take back Crimea, let me tell you the vast majority in Crimea don't want to be part of Ukraine. They want to be part of Russia and Russia will defend Crimea."

Moscow will retaliate for Canada’s latest anti-Russian sanctions, Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov told TASS on Friday.

"There will be a response, as we have always been guided by the principle of reciprocity," he said. "We will respond to every unfriendly action on the part of the Canadian authorities."

On Friday, Canada imposed restrictions on 38 Russian individuals and 16 entities which, Ottawa said, were involved in "Russian propaganda".

Canada’s sanctions on Russian individuals remind diplomat of Third Reich policies

The sanctions slapped on Russian individuals by Canada on Friday are similar to Third Reich attempts to silence the voice of reason, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on Telegram.

According to Zakharova, "The (latest) Canadian sanctions on Russian reporters and performers can be compared to the attempt by the Third Reich to destroy the `non-German spirit’ and silence the voice of reason by burning books and banning periodicals.".

Canada Imposes Sanctions on 38 Russian Individuals,16 Entities Including Rossiya Segodyna

The Canadian Government has imposed Russia-related sanctions on 38 individuals and 16 entities, including MIA Rossiya Segodyna, Global Affairs Canada said on Friday.

“The Honourable Melanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that Canada is imposing further sanctions in relation to Russia’s illegal invasion and attempted annexation of Ukrainian territory,” Global Affairs said in a statement.

"Canada is sanctioning 38 individuals and 16 entities that are complicit in peddling Russian disinformation and propaganda." The ministry said the new sanctions targets include MIA Rossiya Segodyna, the umbrella media group of RIA Novosti, PRIME, InoSMI, TOK, KOT, Baltnews, Ukraina.ru, Social Navigator and Arctic.ru. More specifically, sanctions were placed against Rossiya Segodnya Deputy Editor-in-Chief Dmitry Gornostayev, journalist Sergey Brilev and war correspondent Evgeny Poddubny.

The United World International and Foundation for the Fight Against Repression which reportedly have links to Russian billionaire and Wagner owner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, are also included in the sanctions, the statement added.

Nikolay Victorovich Baskov, a popular Russian singer and television host has also been sanctioned.

Moments after the sanctions were announced, Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov blasted the development as "ridiculous."

"This is ridiculous. It’s just the desire of [Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie] Joly to curry favor with Ukraine and the United States," Stepanov told Sputnik. "It discredits the quality of the Canadian diplomatic service."

"The answer will follow," Stepanov said. "We always act based on the principle of reciprocity - symmetrically, asymmetrically, but for every unfriendly action on the part of the current Canadian authorities, which we look at with regret, we will respond. If the unfriendly steps were not taken then there would be no need for a response."

Stepanov previously blasted the Trudeau administration's sanctions scheme and pointed out how the government has repeatedly and recklessly thrown its blind support behind the Kiev regime. In October 2022, Stepanov underscored Canada was boldly showing its allegiance to the anti-Russian stance marked by both the US and UK.
