Since the end of the last week, Russian troops have been making progress in the Kupyansk direction in the Kharkov Region, with even Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar being forced to acknowledge this development.

This short video recently shared online by the Russian Ministry of Defense shows but one episode from the fighting that takes place near Kupyansk.

In the footage, a team of Russian soldiers can be seen operating a Tornado-G multiple rocket launch system, unleashing a salvo of rockets upon Ukrainian military infrastructure.

In early June, Kiev launched its long-promised counteroffensive. However, Ukrainian troops were not prepared for the stalwart defenses and drumfire of Russian artillery.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense published footage that shows Msta-S firing rounds at Ukrainian positions. Msta-S self-propelled howitzer was designed by Russian scientists as a tool to obliterate enemy troops and level hostile strongholds, as well as decimate command outposts in order to behead the adversary.

These guns proved to be quiet instrumental in various local conflicts, firing up to 8 rounds per minute with minimal range over 24 km.

Russian Foreign Ministry: Those Responsible for Death of Sputnik War Correspondent Will Be Punished

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Saturday that those responsible for the death of Sputnik military correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev, including the suppliers of cluster munitions to Kiev, will be punished.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Zhuravlev died during evacuation from injuries caused by cluster submunition explosion and four journalists received wounds of varying degrees of severity.

"Those responsible for the brutal murder of the Russian journalist will be inevitably punished. The entire measure of responsibility will be imposed on those who supplied their Kiev proteges with cluster munitions," Zakharova said in a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website.

The spokeswoman added that "everything indicated that the attack on the journalist group was not a coincidence."

Earlier in the day, Dmitry Kiselev, the director general of Sputnik's parent company Rossiya Segodnya, called Zhuravlev an "experienced professional" and said that the war correspondent was always first to deliver accurate and important data from dangerous areas.

The head of the Russian Union of Journalists, Vladimir Solovyov, has expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased and said that the union was ready to offer necessary assistance.

"The work of a military correspondent is one of the most dangerous in the world, one of the most dangerous fields of journalism. Sometimes we all lose our friends. I express my deepest condolences to the colleagues, family, and loved ones on behalf of the Russian Union of Journalists. I hope that the injured colleague will recover shortly," Solovyov said.

Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the RT broadcaster and Rossiya Segodnya international media group, commented on the news by saying that everyone will be remembered and nothing will be forgotten.

"Our war correspondent, Rostislav Zhuravlev, is dead. Other guys are wounded. Cluster munitions. We'll remember everyone and remember everything," Simonyan wrote on Telegram.

A Ukrainian armored group, including at least four US-supplied Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, has been destroyed, according to a video circulating on social media, which could not be independently verified.

On Saturday, several Telegram channels shared an undated 12-second clip showing a Russian tank driving past an alleged “graveyard” of Ukrainian heavy military equipment. The video was purportedly filmed near the settlement of Rabotino in Russia’s Zaporozhye Region, some 50km east of the Dnepr River.

The video features what appears to be a tightly packed group of four heavily damaged and abandoned Bradleys on flat terrain, with another vehicle – apparently a crippled Ukrainian Soviet-designed tank – visible in the distance. It is unclear how exactly the armored group was destroyed .

According to the Pentagon, the US has supplied Ukraine with almost 200 Bradleys that were meant to bolster Kiev’s much-hyped counteroffensive against Russia, which Moscow says has so far failed to gain any ground.

Several Western media reports have suggested that Ukraine has suffered significant armor losses during the push, with Business Insider reporting last week that at least 34 Bradleys “have now been visually confirmed as having been abandoned, damaged or destroyed”.

Bradleys had been destroyed beyond repair, with many others sustaining varying degrees of damage. However, Ukrainian service members’ repair efforts were said to be hampered by a lack of spare parts, which led to some Bradleys being cannibalized and sent to neighboring Poland for more extensive repairs.

Last week another video went viral on social media showing Russian soldiers standing in front of a captured Bradley, with some service members thanking Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for the ”gift.” Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow’s specialists could inspect the captured weaponry to delve into Western know-how.

Last week, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu estimated Ukraine’s losses since the start of the counteroffensive in June at about 3,000 pieces of military equipment and tens of thousands of service members.

White House Admits Kiev Forces Take Serious Losses Amid 'Hard Going Counteroffensive

About one and a half months after the launch of the much-hyped Ukrainian “counteroffensive,” Kiev’s Western sponsors have begun to grudgingly admit that Ukrainian forces have not fared well on the battlefield.

Speaking at the Aspen Security Forum on Friday, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan admitted that the Ukrainian "counteroffensive" is "well underway," even though a number of high ranking Ukrainian officials previously claimed that Kiev troops were merely probing the Russian defenses and the real assault was yet to come.

"And it is hard going. And we said it would be hard going," Sullivan said, as quoted by media.

He insisted, however, that Kiev still has a "substantial amount of combat power that it has not yet committed to the fight," and that the "likely results of that counteroffensive" will become apparent when Ukraine commits these forces to the battlefield.

At the same time, Sullivan did admit that "there have already been significant amounts of casualties and deaths of Ukrainian fighters" amid this "counteroffensive."

Meanwhile, the White House seems eager to keep supplying Kiev with weaponry until Ukraine runs out of manpower, with yet another package of military assistance worth up to $400 million being expected to be announced next week.

The package in question is expected to include several Stryker armored personnel carriers, mine clearing equipment, munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), anti-tank weapons and munitions for Patriot and Stinger anti-aircraft systems, according to media reports.

The US and its allies have already supplied Kiev with billions of dollars’ worth of armored vehicles, air defense and multiple rocket launch systems, artillery pieces and small arms, not to mention tons of rockets and ammunition, including cluster munitions.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that four journalists received wounds of varying degrees of severity as a result of the Ukrainian strike with cluster munitions.

Sputnik journalist Rostislav Zhuravlev died during evacuation from injuries caused by cluster submunition explosion, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

"The journalists [shelled by Ukrainian artillery forces] were promptly evacuated to field medical facilities of the Russian Defense Ministry, where they are receiving qualified medical assistance. During the evacuation, Rostislav Zhuravlev, a journalist with the Sputnik news agency, died from injuries caused by a cluster submunition explosion," the ministry said.

The ministry added that the health condition of other journalists was moderately serious, stable, there was no threat to their life and they were provided with all necessary medical assistance.

Earlier in the day, Sputnik correspondent reported that military journalist Rostislav Zhuravlev was killed by Ukrainian shelling in the special operation zone. In addition, Sputnik photojournalist Konstantin Mikhalchevsky was injured.

A group of journalists came under fire near the village of Pyatikhatki in the Zaporozhye Region.

According to preliminary data, a journalist from another Russian media outlet, Izvestia newspaper, was also wounded.

Hundreds of Tourists Evacuated as Wildfire Threatens Resorts on Rhodes

Firefighters struggled to contain a wildfire on the Greek island of Rhodes that burnt forestland for a fifth day on Friday (July 21) as another heatwave hit the country.

Hundreds of tourists are being evacuated from two hotels in the resort of Kiotari, on the Greek island of Rhodes as a wildfire burns out of control for a fifth day.

According to local site Rodiaki, the tourists are evacuated from “Lindian Village” and “Rodos Village”. There are more than 30 buses in the hotels to transport tourists to a safer area.

Upscale and semirural, Kiotari is a tranquil beach resort noted for its all-inclusive hotels with spas and pools. Divided by 2 small headlands, the long, black-pebble stretch of Kiotari Beach is overlooked by fine-dining restaurants, family-friendly pizzerias, and laidback seafood tavernas.

Hotels and resorts in one of Greece's top tourist destinations have been evacuated as a wildfire rages on the island.

The large blaze on the paradise island of Rhodes is now into its fifth day of burning as firefighters battle to bring it under control.

Authorities have also evacuated the village of Laerma and other settlements in the area.

Firefighters on Rhodes are continuing to fight wildfires on the island for the fifth consecutive day, as residents were evacuated from a central village on Friday night.

Villagers in Laerma received the 112 evacuation text message at around 10.30 p.m.

According to local media on the island, three hotels on the island have been evacuated after the wildfire reached the premises while boats have been sent to pick up people from two beaches

A Fire Service representative, speaking on SKAI radio, described the operation on Rhodes as a difficult one, with various challenges in the northern part of the island. Strong winds had pushed the fire south towards Laerma, which resulted in the evacuation order.

The Civil Protection Ministry has warned of a high-risk of fire in 7 of the country’s 13 regions on Saturday, namely Attica; Central Greece (in particular the regional units of Viotia, Evia, Fthiotida, Fokida); the Peloponnese; Western Greece; Thessaly (Larissa, Magnesia); South Aegean (Rhodes); and North Aegean (Samos, Ikaria).

Meteorologists are predicting that temperatures in Greece will reach 44°C (111.2°F) on Saturday and Sunday as an unprecedented heatwave hits Greece and southern Europe.

According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), the heatwave will culminate on Sunday. What makes matters worse is that after a brief respite on Monday, another heatwave is projected to hit Greece which would last until next weekend.

A Greek man died of heatstroke on Friday.

According to an official announcement by the Chalkida General Hospital in central Greece, a 46-year-old man died after being exposed to “a very high temperature.”

“Resuscitation, CPR, and intubation were performed to no avail. Possible cause of death is cardiorespiratory arrest after exposure to a very high temperature,” says the hospital’s statement.
