Russia’s Su-25, also known as the "Frogfoot," is a versatile ground attack aircraft designed for close air support and reconnaissance missions. It is a single-seat, twin-engine jet that can operate from unpaved airfields and in adverse weather conditions.

The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage of Su-25 attack aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces striking enemy positions and personnel in the Donetsk region. The attack was carried out with S-8 unguided air missiles. According to the gunner's report, all the designated targets were successfully hit.

The targets were attacked at an extremely low altitude of only 25 meters above ground

Russia Repels 2 Attacks By Ukraine in Donetsk Direction, Kiev Loses Up to 350 Soldiers - MoD

In early June 2023, Ukraine launched its counteroffensive. Kiev threw into battle brigades trained by NATO instructors and armed with Western equipment. However, already three months later, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Kiev's push had failed, with Ukraine suffering huge casualties.

Russian troops on the Donetsk direction repelled two attacks of the Ukrainian assault groups, enemy losses amounted to up to 350 servicemen, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"In the Donetsk direction, units of the Yug battlegroup in cooperation with aviation and artillery repulsed two attacks of assault groups of the 24th mechanized and 79th airborne assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Shumy and Maryinka settlements of the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said in a statement.

In addition, according to the ministry, the armed forces struck Ukrainian forces and equipment in the areas of Razdolovka, Pereezdnoye, Andreevka, Kurdyumovka, Kleshcheevka and Bogdanovka settlements of the Donetsk People's Republic.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost about 150 people in the Kupyansk and Krasnolimansk directions during the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

In addition, according to the ministry, the armed forces struck Ukrainian forces and equipment in the areas of Razdolovka, Pereezdnoye, Andreevka, Kurdyumovka, Kleshcheevka and Bogdanovka settlements of the Donetsk People's Republic.

Watch: Russian Forces Storm Ukrainian Positions in Kupyansk Direction

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian Armed Forces had fulfilled the main goal of 2023 by thwarting Ukraine's counteroffensive.

The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage of formations of Battlegroup Zapad storming the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kupyansk region. First-person footage clearly shows the high accuracy of the 30 mm BMP-2 gun. The Russian BMP-2 is a versatile infantry fighting vehicle that has proven to be a formidable asset on the battlefield.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched the counteroffensive on June 4, but were unable to overcome even the tactical defense zone of Russia, suffering huge losses in the Zaporozhye direction, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said.

Ukrainian Unmanned Boat Discovered and Destroyed in Black Sea

An unmanned Ukrainian boat heading for Crimea was destroyed in the Black Sea on Saturday morning, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"On December 30 at about 10:00 Moscow time, an unmanned boat of the Ukrainian Navy was detected in the northwestern part of the Black Sea waters, heading for the Crimean Peninsula. The detected target was destroyed from the regular armament of the Black Sea Fleet patrol boat", the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Ukraine has been sending drones and missiles into the Russian territory almost daily since it launched a counteroffensive in early June. The United Nations said in August, following a botched drone strike on Moscow, that it did not want to see any targeting of civilian infrastructure.

UN aid chief Martin Griffiths says “attack on humanitarian workers are unlawful” after UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) said Israelis opened fire on aid convoy travelling on an authorised route.

Meanwhile Gazans are exhausted after nearly three months of nonstop bombing by the Israeli army, navy and airforce and are desperate for the war to end.

According to the latest figures, atleast 21,507, including 8,800 children in Gaza are killed while 55,915 are injured.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society has shared a video on X showing the team conducting awareness activities among the displaced children in Khan Younis due to the spread of disease and epidemics.

The team has been teaching the children how to maintain hygiene despite the water scarcity

The Municipality of Gaza has asked UNICEF on X where the is the fuel to operate the water pumps.

“Sorry for any inconvenience, but can we know where is the fuel to operate the water pumps? You promised to deliver it during the last truce, we haven’t received it yet,” it said.

“You may know children are dying in Gaza and you can’t give them a sip of water!”

Gaza Strip, Palestinian Territories: After nearly three months of deadly strikes, incessant displacements and sputtering humanitarian aid, "exhausted" Gazans say they are desperate for an end to the fighting as Israel's war looks set to grind on into the new year.

The Israeli army kept up its campaign across the length of the Gaza Strip on Friday in the face of mounting international pushback, with UN chief Antonio Guterres reiterating his call for "an immediate humanitarian ceasefire", and South Africa initiating a case against Israel in international court.

The World Health Organization, meanwhile, warned of the growing threat of infectious diseases as fighting displaces more and more Gazans, forcing them ever further south towards the already-overcrowded city of Rafah

"Enough with this war! We are totally exhausted. We are constantly displaced from one place to another in cold weather," said 49-year-old Um Louay Abu Khater from a camp in the southern border city.

"The bombs keep falling on us every day and night. We expect missiles (at any moment), while others are preparing for New Year's Eve celebrations."

The UN says more than 85 percent of Gaza's 2.4 million people have fled their homes, with many now going hungry and braving the winter rains in makeshift tents.

An Israeli siege, following years of crippling blockade, has led to dire shortages of food, safe water, fuel and medicine, with aid convoys offering only sporadic relief.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees said Friday that one such convoy had come under fire from Israeli forces the day before, without causing any casualties.

Ahmed al-Baz, 33, said the year drawing to a close had been "the worst in my life".

"It was a year of destruction and devastation," he said. "We went through hell and encountered death itself."

"We just want the war to end and start the new year at our homes, with a ceasefire declared," he added.

In Rafah, 27-year-old Youssef Ahras told AFP he hoped the negotiations could "stop the bloodshed... because the price of war is so high".

"I don't know a lot about the political aspects because as locals, we are busy with our essential needs," he said.

Shocking Video Captures Moment Rogue Wave Slams Into California Coast, Hospitalizes 8 People

A video shared online shows people running for their lives from a rogue wave that slammed into a California beach on Thursday.

Despite warnings from meteorologists and the National Weather Service, beachgoers in Ventura, California were left in quite a pickle after a massive rogue wave washed ashore and ultimately left at least eight people hospitalized.

Footage shared online initially captured a group of people venturing to the coast to get eyes and ears on the state’s extreme surf; however, within a few moments, multiple residents went running inland as a rogue wave slammed into the sea wall Beachgoers tried to flee the scene, but many appeared to get swept up by the colossal wave. A truck even seemed to have trouble escaping the rogue wave’s torrent.

Ventura, or San Buenaventura, is a coastal city and popular tourist destination that is located about an hour northwest of Los Angeles. According to the city's fire department, the rogue wave slammed into the beach at the end of Seward Avenue.

The department added that “eight people were transported to local hospitals” after the wave slammed into onlookers.

"For your safety, please avoid the area near the ocean, as it can be quite dangerous,” the fire department said.

The National Weather Service on Thursday issued a warning to Californians along the coastline between Central and Southern California, underscoring that there was an “extreme risk” of “dangerous surf, life-threatening rip currents and coastal flooding”.

The service's Bay Area branch also advised people to “stay out of and well away from the water” and to “keep a close eye on kids and pets,” adding that the ocean’s waves would be “deadly” as they have the ability to "easily overpower the strongest swimmers."

A coastal flood advisory remained in effect until 2 p.m. local time on Friday, and a high surf warning was called off at 6 a.m., with waves measuring between 28 feet and 33 feet, said the National Weather Service in San Francisco.

“[The waves] are deadly due to their size and the potential run-up — our biggest concern is people getting too close to the water and potentially getting swept in,” added Alexis Clouser, a weather service meteorologist.

Iraq Kicks Out US Military

Iraq Kicks Out US Military

Iraq Kicks Out US Military

Iraq's PM said his country's relationship with coalition forces would change as the US military and Iran-backed militias up their airstrikes on each other.

Iraq's government is working on bringing an end to the presence of soldiers from a US-led coalition in the country, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said on Thursday.

The Iraqi premier's announcement comes amid heightened tensions and an escalation in attacks between the US military and Iran-backed militias, with the latter group insisting that the Iraqi government should set out a clear timetable for the withdrawal of coalition troops.

Speaking in a joint conference with Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who visited Iraq on Thursday, al-Sudani said his government was committed to reconfiguring its relationship with the coalition forces, who went to Iraq in 2015 to fight the Islamic State (IS) militant group.

"With the presence of capable Iraqi forces, the Iraqi government is heading towards ending the presence of the international coalition forces," Sudani said.

Sudani condemned strikes on bases hosting coalition troops in the country, which have increased substantially since US ally Israel launched its brutal war on Gaza in October.

But with the US conducting retaliatory strikes in Iraq on the Iran-backed groups that are attacking the bases, Sudani said foreign forces must stick to their role of training and advising Iraqi security forces.

"Engaging in military operations beyond these limits is viewed as a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and is unequivocally rejected."

The US this week conducted three airstrikes in response to an attack that wounded three US soldiers at Harir airbase near Erbil, the capital city of Iraqi Kurdistan.

The Iraqi government on Tuesday condemned US airstrikes on the headquarters of armed factions within the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) that killed one person and wounded 20 others.

Spain has more than 300 soldiers in Iraq, as part of the international anti-IS coalition and NATO's mission in the country. Sanchez said during the press conference said that he supported Iraq's "sovereignty and stability".

The US has 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 more in neighbouring Syria, on a mission to advise and assist local forces in fighting IS, who in 2014 seized swathes of territory in both countries.

The US-led coalition helped territorially defeat IS in Iraq in 2017 and Syria two years later, but sleeper cells of the extremist group still carry out attacks in both countries.

Iraq's parliament asked the government to set a timeline for the withdrawal of foreign troops based in the country back in March 2018.

All designated targets have been hit as a result of the strikes that were conducted as part of the ongoing Russian special military operation.

The Russian Armed Forces have carried out a spate of missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian military targets, including military-industrial complex facilities, military airfields, arsenals, and weapon depots, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

"Between December 23 and December 29, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation conducted 50 group and one massive strike with high-precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles on Ukraine’s military-industrial complex facilities, military airfield infrastructure, arsenals, as well as storage sites: artillery ammunition, unmanned boats, weapons and fuel for military equipment," the ministry said, adding that all designated targets have been destroyed.

In addition, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, nationalist formations and foreign mercenaries have been hit, according to the ministry.

Similarly, the ministry said ten warplanes and two helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were shot down over the past seven days.

"Russian aviation and air defense systems downed ten enemy aircraft and two helicopters in a week. These include one MiG-29 [fighter jet], three Su-27 [fighters], three Su-24 [tactical bombers], three Su-25 [attack aircraft], as well as two Mi-8 helicopters of the Ukrainian Air Force."

The ministry said that Russian forces had also intercepted 33 rockets launched by Ukraine’s HIMARS and Hurricane multiple launch rocket systems, four HARM anti-radar missiles, a JDAM guided bomb, a Neptune anti-ship missile and 251 drones.

Drone Wars: How Russia Can Crack New Ukrainian UAV Tactic

Ukrainian forces have developed a new drone strike strategy, but Russian troops are responding by bolstering their defense and reconnaissance capabilities. According to DPR military sources working on the Avdeevka Front, a major influx ("in abundance") of FPV attack drones to the UAF in Avdeevka has resulted in new and dangerous tactic being employed by UAF/NATO drone operators against DPR/RF soldiers. The high volume of attack drones delivered to the remaining UAF Special Forces and Western mercenaries in Avdeevka now allow them to launch hunter/killer drones in pairs, a new tactic, which makes them more dangerous and effective.

The drones, and the operators, work in close proximity, which allows real time communication between the operators, and much more effective detection and destruction of identified targets by two attack drones instead of one. If you have plenty of attack drones, the previous tactic of one recon/observation drone working with one attack drone becomes obsolete. Which now appears to be the case.

This "abundance" of attack drones and skilled UKR/NATO pilots has the following results - If one attack drone finds a target, they inform the second drone operator and attack. The first one hits the target, then the second one finishes off the target, usually repeating the trajectory of the first attack, or waiting a few minutes until help arrives for those hit by the first drone, and then targeting them again.

This new tactic is aimed at:

  1. Increasing the probability of detecting, hitting and destroying the target.

  2. Hitting targets behind protective barriers (the first one breaks the barrier, the second one passes through the broken barrier and hits the target.)

  3. Reducing flight time to the target of the second UAV and the chances of taking cover or closing a gap in the defense against the second drone attack.

  4. Attacking soldiers providing assistance, finish off shell-shocked or immobilized soldiers, and target doctors and medics.

However, Russian soldiers in the field are already taking countermeasures of their own, such as additional layers of anti-drone (metal/nylon barriers) protection, moving on foot in a more dispersed column (15 meters apart, instead of 5), enhanced audio recon (listen for the sound of flying mopeds), and the use of thermal imagers (motors and batteries are hot and can be detected against the sky).

The effectiveness of this new Ukrainian tactic can be further reduced by deploying more drone detectors, anti-drone rifles, thermal imagers, and enhanced listening devices to the frontlines. Additionally, if Russia continues increasing the delivery of its own attack drones, then our pilots can employ the same technique against the Ukrainians.

Enemy drone operators and launching sites should be made priority targets by official doctrine.

These new tactics have just recently been employed by the enemy in the Avdeevka combat zone, but there is no doubt they will be employed in other areas along the Front, very soon, if not already. We must respond accordingly, and immediately. Our guys' lives depend on it.

Watch Russian Mi-28N Helicopters Ravage Ukrainian Positions

Russian Army aviation crews of Mi-28N helicopters wiped out Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk direction in the special op zone.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has released footage showing Mi-28N helicopter pilots launch unguided missiles and hit Ukrainian strongholds in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

The crews successfully struck all the targets and returned to a safe airfield upon completing the combat mission. In the course of the special military operation, the Russian army aviation has performed missions escorting military convoys, demolishing armored vehicles, delivering troops and military cargo, and providing air support for Russian military units, the MoD added.
