FBI Received 'Criminal Info' From Over 40 Confidential Sources on Biden, Hunter - Reports

Over 40 confidential FBI sources say there's evidence of criminal activity committed by Joe, James and Hunter Biden with accusations of the Department of Justice shutting them down.

In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley said that the sources had been managed by different FBI field offices and supplied the bureau with details of potential crimes by the Biden's.

A former US attorney said the FBI hindered his ability to investigate first son Hunter Biden’s work for Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma — and that special counsel David Weiss skipped a briefing on bribery allegations into the president and his son, according to congressional testimony reviewed by The Post.

“I think there was reluctance on the part of the FBI to really do any tasking related to our assignment,” Brady told Judiciary members and staff, clarifying that his role involved “looking into allegations of Ukrainian corruption broadly” as well as “anything that intersected with Hunter Biden and his role in Burisma.”

Brady said he had been tasked with the role by Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General Seth DuCharme and Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, who ended up having to force Weiss to cooperate with the Pittsburgh office.

The former federal prosecutor said the “credible” allegations his team received involving the president’s son apparently worried officials in FBI headquarters as the probe spanned the length of the presidential election cycle, from January to October 2020.

“There was a larger group at the FBI, including FBI headquarters, that had eyes on what was happening and which required signoff for any investigative steps that FBI Pittsburgh was asked to take by us,” Brady said.

In one instance, at least “17 different people” at FBI headquarters had to approve an assignment in his office — a requirement that he said he had seen “never in my career.”

Brady also said he was “surprised” to have first learned about the contents of Hunter’s abandoned laptop through The Post’s bombshell October 2020 reports, which revealed the first son’s influence-peddling schemes abroad.

“I would have thought that would be something, especially as has been publicly reported, there’s information relating to Hunter Biden’s activities on the board of Burisma in Ukraine, that might have been helpful in our assessment of the information that we were receiving about him,” he said.

His probe’s most shocking finding came in a June 2020 confidential informant file — which has since been released by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) — that alleged Hunter and Joe Biden received a $10 million bribery payment from Burisma’s owner.

Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner, told the informant in a 2016 meeting that he had been “coerced” into paying off the Bidens to get Ukrainian Prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired while he was investigating the natural gas company.

In a letter on Wednesday, Grassley also said that more than 40 confidential sources had provided other “criminal information” about the Biden family, which had been covered up by DOJ and FBI officials.

According to Brady, the FD-1023 file contained “sufficient indicia of credibility” to pass along to the FBI’s Baltimore field office, Weiss’ office and two other US attorneys’ offices with “ongoing” investigations in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

“Speaking generally, from a process perspective, I think there was both a skepticism of the information that we were developing, that we had received, and skepticism and then weariness of that information,” Brady also said.

“I think they were very concerned about any information sharing with our office,” he added, mentioning “it was regularly a challenge to interact with the investigative team from Delaware.”

“[A]t one point, the communication between our offices was so constricted that we had to provide written questions to the investigative team in Delaware, almost in the form of interrogatories, and receive written answers back,” Brady said.

U.S. Attorney Brady resigns, at Biden's bidding

At the bidding of the Biden administration, Scott W. Brady, United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, has resigned, effective Sunday.

A news release with the announcement came suddenly Friday afternoon, on the heels of an announcement earlier in January 2021, that the Biden administration was calling for the resignation of most of the US attorneys appointed by former President Donald Trump.

Brady, a 1987 Greenville High School graduate, earned degrees from Harvard and Penn State universities. Born in Meadville with family in Sharpsville, Brady worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in Pittsburgh from 2004 to 2010, prosecuting white-collar crime, violent crime and drug-trafficking cases.

“[T]his is a very sensitive investigation, and it was an election year,” he added.

“[A]t one point, the communication between our offices was so constricted that we had to provide written questions to the investigative team in Delaware, almost in the form of interrogatories, and receive written answers back,” Brady said.

That reluctance to dig further into the Biden allegations included Weiss, who ended up sitting out the Pittsburgh office’s final “substantive briefing” on the FBI file and other materials relevant to the Hunter probe in October 2020.

However, an assistant US attorney previously identified by IRS whistleblowers as having impeded their own investigation into Hunter Biden had a seat at the table, along with other senior prosecutors from both offices.

The assistant US attorney, Lesley Wolf, also sought to discredit the information from Brady’s office under the belief that it had all originated from former President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Brady said that he made clear to both Weiss and Wolf that the FBI FD-1023 form had not come from Giuliani, as well as other relevant information to their investigation.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr also told The Post earlier this year that the bribery investigation had been presented to the Delaware prosecutor’s office — despite claims to the contrary from House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) that the probe had been shut down.

House Republicans last month launched an impeachment inquiry into the president to determine whether he engaged in corruption or benefited from his son’s foreign business entanglements while serving as vice president.

Hunter Biden is currently scheduled to go on trial next year for gun charges after he lied on a federal firearm purchase form about his drug use.

Weiss unsealed that indictment against the first son in September, but has yet to bring other charges related to his more than five-year investigation.

IDF Carries Out Tank Raid in Northern Gaza

IDF forces carried out a targeted raid using tanks in the northern Gaza Strip. In a tweet they wrote: " IDF forces under the command of the Givati Brigade tonight carried out a targeted raid using tanks in the territory of the northern Gaza Strip, as part of the preparation of the area for the next stages of combat. As part of the activity, the forces located and attacked many terrorists, destroyed terrorist infrastructures, anti-tank positions and carried out work to organise the area. The troops left the area at the end of the mission"

The raid is not believed to form part of Israel's highly anticipated ground invasion of Gaza, but comes amid heightened expectations of a step-up in the IDF's offensive in the enclave.

In a televised address Wednesday, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again said that Israel is preparing for a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, but provided no details about timing. Israeli military officials have previously said that the next stage of the campaign may not necessarily be a ground incursion.

Fuel, meanwhile, is running out in the Gaza Strip and a U.N. humanitarian relief agency warns its aid operations in the area could be obstructed as a result.

As the international community sounds the alarm on a growing humanitarian crisis in the region, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has called for a "pause" in Israel's military operations against Hamas in order to allow more aid to get into the Gaza Strip, NBC News reported. Speaking at a news conference, Biden stressed that Israel needs to do "everything in its power to protect innocent civilians."

This raid is one of several that have taken place overnight.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Israeli forces have detained more than 1,450 Palestinians since October 7.

At least 104 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli raids, including two who died in custody, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society.

In its latest update, the Israeli army says the number of people taken captive in the Gaza Strip by Hamas was 224, adding that the number could rise further.

On Wednesday, the army had put the number of remaining hostages at 222 people.

In recent days, Hamas has released several captives, including US and Israeli citizens, after Qatari mediation efforts

Russia's Putin warns conflict may spread 'far beyond' Middle East borders

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned the Israel-Hamas conflict could "spill far beyond the borders of the Middle East," according to a Google-translated readout of a speech given to religious leaders.

"Our task today, the main task, is to stop the bloodshed and violence. Otherwise, further growth of the crisis is fraught with severe and extremely dangerous, destructive consequences," he said.

Divided between loyalties to Israel and Hamas-supporting Iran, Russia has repeatedly called for an end to violence and civilian suffering, but has fallen short of condemning the Palestinian militant group. Putin previously spoke against a possible Israeli ground incursion into the Gaza Strip, warning of the likelihood of civilian casualties resulting from attacking urban areas.

"We see attempts by some forces to provoke further escalation, to drag as many other countries and peoples into the conflict as possible, using them for their own selfish interests, to launch a real wave of chaos and mutual hatred not only in the Middle East, but also far beyond its borders," Putin said.

The Kremlin has repeatedly blamed the Israel-Hamas war on the U.S. — which, alongside several Western countries, slapped sanctions against Moscow for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

NYT questions Israel’s Gaza hospital bombing video ‘evidence’

One of the key pieces of evidence Israel has used to prove it had nothing to do with the deadly Gaza hospital bombing last week might be irrelevant to that whole case, the New York Times (NYT) reported on Tuesday, citing an extensive analysis conducted by its visual investigations team.

The footage initially taken by Al Jazeera was shared by the Israeli Foreign Ministry in the aftermath of the deadly strike on the Al-Ahli Arab Hosipital last Tuesday and was a central part of the Jewish state's denials in the immediate aftermath of the bombing.

The clip shows a projectile flying above Gaza and exploding mid-air, with its parts falling to the ground below. Another blast – this time on the ground – follows.

West Jerusalem claimed that the video shows a malfunctioning rocket launched by the Gaza-based Islamic Jihad group. It was supposedly this projectile that caused the deadly explosion at the Al-Ahli Hospital.

Israel’s Gaza hospital bombing claims not credible – analystsREAD MORE Israel’s Gaza hospital bombing claims not credible – analysts

The high-profile incident saw a major blast rocking a parking lot inside the hospital yard. Although the building itself did not sustain major damage, the explosion nevertheless reportedly killed around 500 people, who had allegedly gathered in the yard to seek refuge from the Israeli bombardment of the Palestinian enclave, according to the local health authorities.

The NYT analysts concluded that the mid-air blast depicted in he video could have hardly led to such devastating consequences since it took place around two miles (more than three kilometers) away from the medical facility. It was an “unrelated aspect” of the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Gaza-based militant groups, the media outlet said.

“The missile in the video was never near the hospital. It was launched from Israel, not Gaza, and appears to have exploded above the Israeli-Gaza border, at least two miles away from the hospital,” the paper said. Even though this piece of evidence does not shed light on what exactly happened at the hospital, the Israeli officials’ attempt to build their case upon it “complicates the straightforward narrative they have put forth,” it added.

The NYT said that it had synchronized the Al Jazeera footage with five other videos taken at the same time, including the ones filmed by an Israeli television station, Channel 12, and a CCTV camera in Tel Aviv. These clips provided the view of the mid-air incident from north, south, east, and west. The paper’s analysts then triangulated the launch point in the videos, using satellite imagery, and determined that the projectile was fired towards Gaza from Israel. The media outlet then said it could not identify the exact type of projectile seen on the video.

Earlier, several groups of journalists and analysts at various NGOs and media outlets questioned the Israeli narrative based on the video as well. Teams at Qatar's Al Jazeera and the British network Channel 4 studied the footage and concluded that the flash could not be linked with the subsequent explosion at the hospital.

The flash “was in fact consistent with Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system intercepting a missile fired from the Gaza Strip and destroying it in midair,” Al Jazeera said at that time.

Russia has conducted a major exercise aimed at testing its strategic nuclear forces, the Kremlin confirmed on Wednesday. The drills involved all three components of the nuclear triad: intercontinental ballistic missiles, nuclear-armed submarines, and strategic bombers, the statement said.

According to Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, the drills focused on the simulated delivery of “a massive nuclear strike by the strategic offensive-oriented forces in response to a nuclear strike by a [simulated] enemy.”

The test also evaluated military leadership readiness capacity to command the strategic nuclear forces, the Kremlin added. All forces involved “followed through” with their goals, it added.

The exercise involved launching Russia’s state-of-the-art Yars intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the country’s north. The missile successfully hit its target at the Kura Missile Test Range, on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s far east, more than 5,700 kilometers from the launch site.

Russia’s nuclear-powered ‘Tula’ submarine launched a ‘Sineva’ ballistic missile from the Barents Sea, just north of the Arkhangelsk Region, the statement said. Tu-95 strategic nuclear bombers also launched several nuclear-capable cruise missiles, it added.

The drills were personally overseen by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and partly coordinated by the Russian National Defense Operations Center in Moscow.

The Defense Ministry has also published a series of videos reportedly of the drills, featuring ballistic missile launches and Russian strategic bombers.

On Tuesday, the Russian Federation Council – the upper house of the national parliament – approved a bill that would withdraw Russian ratification of a treaty banning such tests. The Russian State Duma, the lower house, had previously passed the legislation.

Moscow has however also pledged to refrain from conducting nuclear tests even after the legal obligations are removed, unless the US does so first.

Ratified by Russia in 2000, the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) has not yet come into force, since its terms require ratification by a set of nations, including the US. Moscow previously explained its decision to withdraw from the agreement by pointing to the position of Washington, which had not ratified the treaty but “deems it appropriate to lecture the signatories.”

Moscow has also vowed to refrain from conducting nuclear tests even after the legal obligations are removed, unless the US does so first.
