Airlangga Hartarto announced his resignation as the General Chairman of the Golkar Party DPP in Jakarta, Sunday, August 11, 2024.







In an official video broadcast by the Golkar Party in Jakarta, Sunday, Airlangga explained the reason for his resignation because he wanted to maintain the integrity of the Golkar Party and ensure stability during the transition of government from President Joko Widodo to President-elect Prabowo Subianto.


"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, and by the guidance of God Almighty, I hereby declare my resignation as the general chairman of the Golkar Party DPP," said Airlangga in the video.


Airlangga continued his resignation as Golkar general chairman effective Saturday night, August 10, 2024.






"Furthermore, as a mature and adult large party, the Golkar Party DPP will immediately prepare an organizational mechanism in accordance with the provisions of the applicable organizational AD/ART," said Airlangga in the same video.


Airlangga continued the next process that is underway within Golkar, including those related to the appointment of an acting (plt.) general chairman and preparations for holding an extraordinary national conference (munaslub) that will take place peacefully, orderly, and continue to uphold the dignity of the Golkar Party.


In the same broadcast, Airlangga expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, President-elect Prabowo Subianto, Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Then, he also thanked a number of Golkar seniors, including Jusuf Kalla, Aburizal Bakrie, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Akbar Tanjung, Agung Laksono, and Muhammad Hatta.


"To the ranks of the Golkar Party DPP management, as well as to all leaders of our party at the provincial, city and district levels, I believe we can continue to maintain the solidity and continuity of the Golkar Party," said Airlangga.


"Only deep gratitude can I express at a time like this," he continued.


At the end of his announcement, Airlangga closed with a verse of the Golkar Party Hymn. "Long live Golongan Karya! May God always protect it," he said.
