Two US-made Patriot systems were among the hardware of Ukrainian troops destroyed by a strike of Russia's Iskander missile in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), a security source told Sputnik on Saturday

The Russian Defense Ministry reported Iskander's strike earlier in the day. Its preliminary data suggested the strike destroyed an S-300 missile system of Ukrainian troops near the town of Pokrovsk in the DPR. Sputnik later obtained footage suggesting there were three missile systems destroyed by Iskander's strike.

"A control analysis has found that captured on the video was not only the S-300, as previously stated, but two of the three vehicles destroyed [by the strike] were the Patriot missile systems," the source said.

The Iskander tactical missile system is a high-precision weapon with a firing range of up to 500 kilometers. The missile's warhead can destroy almost any target: enemy command posts, columns of equipment, or air defenses.

Iskander can be armed with both ballistic and winged projectiles, which create false electronic interference as they approach the target and become virtually invulnerable to enemy air defense systems. Cruise missiles can fly at ultra-low altitudes and skirt terrain.

The US sent Ukraine Raytheon-made air defense systems last spring, but they have had difficulties intercepting Russian projectiles and have been targeted themselves. In January this year, an advisor to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Air Force Command admitted that Ukraine’s NATO-sourced air defenses have never actually managed to intercept even one of the estimated 300 Kh-22 series missiles Russian warplanes had launched into Ukraine since 2022.

In May 2023, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that its forces had destroyed a Kiev-stationed Patriot with a hypersonic Kinzhal missile. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced a successful hit on another Patriot two weeks later.

Western countries have been providing Ukraine with military equipment since the start of Russia's special military operation in February 2022. The support evolved from lighter artillery munitions and training to heavier weapons, including tanks. Ukraine eventually started pushing for Western-made fighter jets, which its donors abroad long resisted.

The Kremlin has consistently warned against continued arms deliveries to Kiev, saying it would lead to further escalation of the conflict. In April 2022, Russia sent a diplomatic note to all NATO countries on the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russian strikes.

Iskander Missile Makes Short Work of Ukrainian S-300 Air Defense System

Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine.

Footage provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense has shown an Iskander missile blasting a group of Ukrainian transporters with S-300 launcher mounts near a woodland area.

The powerful explosion caused by the precision strike obliterates them while S-300 projectiles also subsequently detonate – causing a fireball-like explosion all around the area.

In the Ministry of Defense's regular briefing, it was informed that the Russian Armed Forces improved their positions in the Donetsk, South Donetsk and Avdeyevka areas.

Enemy losses amounted to 975 soldiers, as well as a tank, three US-made M-777 howitzers, a RM-70 MLRS aka “Vampire”, French Caesar howitzer, US-made “Stryker” IFV and MiG-29.

In addition, the Russian army destroyed several electromagnetic warfare installations and numerous ammunition depots.

Apart from the MiG-29 fighter jet, Russian air defenses shot down 197 drones and three HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system shells, as well as a French-made Hammer guided bomb over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

"The air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 aircraft near the village of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk People's Republic. Over the past 24 hours, three rockets from the US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system and a French-made Hammer guided bomb were intercepted," the ministry said.

Russian Su-25 Jets Pay Destructive Visit to Ukrainian Positions

The Kiev regime's troops that still occupy parts of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have once again learned the hard way that they are not welcome.

Su-25 attack aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces have executed a sortie against Ukrainian troop positions in the DPR.

Having successfully hit all the designated targets with unguided air-to-ground missiles, the aircraft were able to return to base in one piece as whatever air defenses Ukrainian troops had in the area were not enough to repel such an attack.

At least 13 Palestinians, including children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a house in the Nusseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, Palestinian medical sources and eyewitnesses said Saturday.

On Saturday, the Israeli occupation carried out several massacres against Palestinian civilians across different areas of the Gaza Strip, specifically in the Nuseirat Camp, southern Khan Younis, and al-Jalaa Street in central Gaza, murdering dozens of martyrs

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli aircraft targeted a house with two missiles, destroying the house and causing damage to neighboring homes.

The Israeli airstrike killed 13 people, including children, and several others were injured to varying degrees and were all transported to hospitals, medical sources said.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates accused Israel of "involving the entire population of Gaza in a whirlwind of imminent death."

The Israeli occupation also launched more airstrikes spread across different areas of Gaza, resulting in higher death tolls. The body of a martyr was pulled out, alongside several injured Palestinians, from the rubble of a bombed house in al-Qoraan, in southern Deir al-Balah.

Two martyrs were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the al-Shati refugee camp, while several others were injured. Rescue teams also reported that nine martyrs, including children, were killed on Saturday dawn in the Israeli bombardment of a house on al-Jalaa Street. Several Palestinians were wounded as well.

In south Gaza, Israeli airstrikes on al-Qarara in Khan Younis killed three martyrs, while three others were killed as the IOF targeted a group of civilians in Street 5 in southern Khan Younis. Meanwhile, rescue teams were able to recover the bodies of 10 martyrs that had been stuck beneath the rubble of destroyed homes.

It also criticized that Israel consistently ignores all international decisions and requests regarding the protection and basic needs of civilians

Earlier on Saturday, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said the Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on the enclave had risen to 30,960, with 72,524 others wounded.

Aid package parachute fails to deploy in Gaza 5 people killed

Aid package parachute fails to deploy in Gaza 5 people killed

Parachutes carrying aid bundles dropped from a U.S. plane land in the water and on a beach in Gaza on March 2. The parachutes used in that drop were large "low velocity" designed to fall at less than 20 miles per hour. A medic at Gaza's largest hospital said Friday a humanitarian airdrop in the north of the Palestinian territory killed five people and wounded 10.

The accident happened on Friday morning near the coastal refugee camp known as al-Shati, one of the most devastated parts of Gaza, after a parachute attached to the pallet failed to deploy properly and the parcel fell on a group of men, teenagers and younger children hoping to obtain food and other supplies.

Several hundred thousand people are facing famine in northern Gaza, where they live among the ruins of their homes, without sewage, electricity or any other basic services.

The casualties were taken to Gaza City’s al-Shifa hospital, the emergency room’s head nurse, Mohammed al-Sheikh, said.

A witness from the camp said he and his brother had followed the parachuted aid in the hope of getting “a bag of flour”.

“Then, all of a sudden, the parachute didn’t open and fell down like a rocket on the roof of one of the houses,” said Mohammed al-Ghoul. “Ten minutes later I saw people transferring three martyrs and others injured, who were staying on the roof of the house where the aid packages fell.”

Video posted on social media showed a large cluster of aid parcels suspended from parachutes drifting through the sky but appearing to get tangled before one, with its chute deployed but not fully opened, drops much more quickly than the rest.

The airdrops have been criticized by international aid agencies and others as wholly insufficient to meet the needs of the people of Gaza.

The United Nations has warned of widespread famine among Gaza's roughly 2.3 million residents, and the global body's top humanitarian aid coordinator, Martin Griffiths, said Friday in a social media post marking six months of war in Gaza that the airdrops were a "last resort."

The casualties were taken to Gaza City's Al-Shifa hospital, the emergency room's head nurse, Mohammed al-Sheikh, told AFP.

Sheikh said the deadly airdrop occurred north of the coastal Al-Shati refugee camp

A witness from the camp told the news agency AFP he and his brother followed the parachuted aid in the hope of getting "a bag of flour".

"Then, all of a sudden, the parachute didn't open and fell down like a rocket on the roof of one of the houses," said Mohammed al-Ghoul.

"Ten minutes later I saw people transferring three martyrs and others injured, who were staying on the roof of the house where the aid packages fell," the 50-year-old told AFP.

The United States and Jordan are among the countries to have carried out airdrops in northern Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of people are facing dire conditions after more than five months of war.

A Jordanian military source told AFP that the kingdom was not involved in Friday's fatal drop.

"The technical defect that caused some parachutes carrying aid not to open and to fall freely to the ground during the airdrop on Gaza on Friday was not from a Jordanian aircraft," the source said.

"The four Jordanian aircraft that carried out the airdrop in partnership with five other countries carried out its mission without any glitches."

Referring to the five killed on Friday, the government media office in Hamas-run Gaza said airdrops were "futile" and "not the best way for aid to enter."

Russian military destroys Ukrainian S-300 air defense system - Video

The Russian Defense Ministry has published a video of a missile strike which destroyed a Ukrainian S-300 air defense system deployed in the People’s Republic of Donetsk.

The hardware was hit near the town of Pokrovsk, located some 67km north-west of the Russian region’s capital, Donetsk, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

The attack on the S-300 was carried out with the use of Iskander short-range ballistic missiles, the statement read.

Drone footage of the strike shows the Ukrainian air defense system being consumed by a large explosion.

The S-300 is a Soviet-designed surface-to-air missile system, which has been in service since the late 1970s and exists in multiple variants.

While Ukraine only has S-300s in its arsenal, Russia also operates the more advanced S-400 and S-500 systems.

Watch Russian Artillery Hammer Ukrainian Positions

Russian artillery is renowned for its formidable firepower. During the special military operation in Ukraine, artillery plays a key role in both offensive and defensive operations.

The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage of the combat work of Russian artillerymen. D-20 howitzer crews wiped out Ukrainian fortifications and eliminated enemy military personnel.

The artillerymen were assisted by reconnaissance drones that helped pinpoint the exact location and adjust the fire. 152mm D-20 howitzers typically use High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) rounds, which either incinerate the enemy or obliterate them with the shockwave.

Russia Destroys 47 Ukrainian Drones Over Four Regions at Night

Russian air defenses have shot down 47 Ukrainian drones over four regions, the Defense Ministry said in a statement Saturday.

“This night, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using 47 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was stopped. Air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed UAVs over the territories of the Belgorod (1 UAV), Kursk (2), Volgograd (3) and Rostov (41) regions,” the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army uses kamikaze drones to attack civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and hospitals.

Russian authorities are crystal clear on this issues – Ukraine uses drones for terror attacks while Western backers of the Kiev regime are turning a blind eye on Ukrainian tactics.
