The Russian Defense Ministry has published a video of a missile strike which destroyed a Ukrainian S-300 air defense system deployed in the People’s Republic of Donetsk.
The hardware was hit near the town of Pokrovsk, located some 67km north-west of the Russian region’s capital, Donetsk, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
The attack on the S-300 was carried out with the use of Iskander short-range ballistic missiles, the statement read.
Drone footage of the strike shows the Ukrainian air defense system being consumed by a large explosion.
The S-300 is a Soviet-designed surface-to-air missile system, which has been in service since the late 1970s and exists in multiple variants.
While Ukraine only has S-300s in its arsenal, Russia also operates the more advanced S-400 and S-500 systems.
Watch Russian Artillery Hammer Ukrainian Positions
Russian artillery is renowned for its formidable firepower. During the special military operation in Ukraine, artillery plays a key role in both offensive and defensive operations.
The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage of the combat work of Russian artillerymen. D-20 howitzer crews wiped out Ukrainian fortifications and eliminated enemy military personnel.
The artillerymen were assisted by reconnaissance drones that helped pinpoint the exact location and adjust the fire. 152mm D-20 howitzers typically use High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) rounds, which either incinerate the enemy or obliterate them with the shockwave.
Russia Destroys 47 Ukrainian Drones Over Four Regions at Night
Russian air defenses have shot down 47 Ukrainian drones over four regions, the Defense Ministry said in a statement Saturday.
“This night, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using 47 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was stopped. Air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed UAVs over the territories of the Belgorod (1 UAV), Kursk (2), Volgograd (3) and Rostov (41) regions,” the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army uses kamikaze drones to attack civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and hospitals.
Russian authorities are crystal clear on this issues – Ukraine uses drones for terror attacks while Western backers of the Kiev regime are turning a blind eye on Ukrainian tactics.
