The Ukrainian armed forces failed to achieve success in a large-scale offensive on five front sectors in the south Donetsk area, official spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said.






"The adversary launched a large-scale offensive from the morning of June 4 on five sectors of the front in the south Donetsk area by bringing into action 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades from strategic reserves of the Ukrainian armed forces with support from other military units and teams," the spokesman said. "The adversary’s objective was to break through our defense on the most vulnerable front sector, in its opinion. The enemy failed to perform its tasks and had no success," Konashenkov noted.


The adversary used six mechanized battalions and two tank battalions, the defense ministry’s spokesman informed. "As a result of skilled and sophisticated action of the Battlegroup East, the Ukrainian armed forces lost more than 250 persons, sixteen tanks, three mechanized infantry combat vehicles and 21 combat armored vehicles," Konashenkov stressed.


He particularly noted that Chief of General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov was at one of frontline command posts in this area.



Ukraine Launches Large-Scale Offensive in Donetsk Region on June 4 - Russian Ministry



The Ukrainian armed forces launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the South Donetsk direction, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lt. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.


"On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the South Donetsk direction by introducing into battle the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades from the strategic reserves of the armed forces of Ukraine with the support of other military units and divisions," Konashenkov said.


He noted that in total Kiev involved six mechanized and two tank battalions in order to break through the defense lines of the Russian armed forces.


"The enemy did not achieve [their] tasks," Konashenkov added.


The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces in the South Donetsk direction after the Russian military repulsed a large-scale offensive amounted to more than 250 soldiers, 16 tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles and 21 armored fighting vehicles, Konashenkov said.


"As a result of the skillful and competent actions of the ‘Eastern’ group of the [Russian armed] forces, the losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to more than 250 personnel, 16 tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, 21 armored fighting vehicles," Konashenkov stated .








Ukrainian forces shell Donetsk Region 52 times over day — mission



The Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) 52 times over the past day, according to the DPR mission at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to Ukrainian War Crimes.


"The mission reported 52 facts of fire opening by Ukrainian armed units over the past day," it said on its Telegram channel. "Three hundred and thirty various munitions [were fired]," the mission said.


Five settlements in the Republic were under fire. A noncombatant woman was wounded as a result of shelling. Nineteen houses and a civil infrastructure facility were damaged.



Power installation in fire in Belgorod Region — governor



A power facility in the Belgorod Region has caught fire, governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram channel.


"One of power installations is in fire," Gladkov wrote. "Nobody was injured. Consumers were not disconnected. Rapid response functions are working on site," the governor said.


An explosive dropped from a drone is a preliminary cause of fire outbreak, Gladkov noted.
